Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data to lead architecture and scale data reliability, data infra, automation, and tooling for growing needs. You will own critical data systems, design large-scale pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse, and improve ingestion/ETL reliability across the data ecosystem.

The role requires 8+ years as a hands-on engineer and 6+ years in data engineering, with strong Python/Kotlin/Scala skills, Airflow, Spark/Presto, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on engineering and technical leadership across multiple projects.
• 6+ years in data platform / data engineering or similar role.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools in full software lifecycle.
• Strong programming in Python/Kotlin/Scala.
• 4+ years in ETL orchestration/workflow tools like Airflow.
• Expertise in database fundamentals, SQL, data reliability, and distributed computing.
• 4+ years with distributed data ecosystems (Spark, Presto) and streaming tech (Kaa/Flink/Spark Streaming).
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Own critical data systems that support multiple products/teams.
• Develop, implement and enforce best practices for data infrastructure and automation.
• Design, develop and implement large scale, high volume data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
• Improve the reliability and scalability of ingestion, data processing, ETLs, reporting tools and data ecosystem services.
• Manage a portfolio of data products that deliver high-quality, trustworthy data.
• Help onboard and support other engineers as they join the team.
