Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data to lead architectural efforts and scale data reliability, infrastructure, automation and tools across a high-volume environment. You will own critical data systems, design large-scale pipelines, and drive data quality and reliability.

The role emphasizes mentoring engineers, collaborating across teams, and advancing data platforms with modern streaming technologies. Base salary ranges are provided with equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on engineering and technical leadership leading multiple projects.
• 6+ years in data platform and data engineering or similar role.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools in the full SDLC (e.g., Claude Code, Codex).
• Proficiency in Python/Kotlin/Scala.
• 4+ years of experience with ETL orchestration and tools like Airflow.
• Expert in SQL, data reliability practices and distributed computing.
• 4+ years in distributed data ecosystems (Spark, Presto) and streaming (Kaa/Flink/Spark Streaming).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Own critical data systems supporting multiple products/teams.
• Design, develop and scale data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
• Develop and enforce best practices for data infrastructure and automation.
• Improve reliability and scalability of ingestion, processing, ETLs, and reporting tools.
• Manage a portfolio of data products delivering high-quality, trustworthy data.
• Mentor and onboard engineers joining the team.
