Job summary

Overstory, a climate-tech company, is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design and scale our data platform that powers its AI-driven vegetation analysis. You will own the architecture, handle massive satellite imagery and utility data through reliable pipelines, and partner with data, ML, and product teams to balance delivery with durability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and building production-grade data pipelines and systems.
• Hands-on Dagster experience; production orchestration knowledge.
• Experience with scalable data pipelines, idempotency, backfills.
• Strong system design skills and service-oriented architecture experience.
• Proficient in Python and Google Cloud technologies.
• Experience with Pub/Sub and event-driven patterns.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in remote, distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the data platform to support AI-powered vegetation analysis.
• Design and maintain large-scale geospatial data pipelines from ingestion to delivery.
• Lead cross-team architecture decisions and define data contracts.
