Job summary

Fora Financial is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to build and own the platform backbone for governed reporting and trusted AI workflows. This hands-on IC role will shape ingestion patterns, Snowflake design, data contracts, and SLAs while getting into the weeds to harden pipelines.

You will partner with Analytics, Engineering, and vendors to transform fragmented sources into trustworthy data products and set an architecture that reduces operational burden.

Qualifications

• Deep data engineering judgment for production platforms.
• Ability to move from architecture discussions to code and debugging.
• Strong ingestion fundamentals including APIs, CDC, and backfills.
• Fluent with Snowflake design, RBAC, performance tuning, and cost controls.
• Disciplined data quality practices with visibility before users.
• Ability to own and communicate decisions and drive resolution.
• Experience using AI-native approaches to accelerate engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

• Own data platform architecture and strategy, from ingestion to governance.
• Make pragmatic tradeoffs on streaming vs batch to maximize business value.
• Lead source onboarding, QA, and documentation for new integrations.
• Ensure pipeline reliability with monitoring, alerts, and runbooks.
• Define data contracts, SLAs, and escalation paths with stakeholders.
• Drive AI-enabled improvements in debugging, testing, and orchestration.
