Job summary

Fora Financial seeks a Staff Data Engineer to own the platform backbone for governed reporting and trusted AI workflows. This hands-on IC role sits on a small Data & AI team, making strategic architecture calls and then building and hardening pipelines.

You will collaborate with Analytics, Engineering, and vendors to convert fragmented sources into trustworthy data products, driving data contracts, governance, and observability.

Qualifications

• Designed, built, and operated production data platforms.
• Hands-on ability from architecture to production code and CI/CD.
• Strong ingestion fundamentals: APIs, CDC, backfills, schema drift.
• Fluent in Snowflake design, RBAC, performance tuning and cost control.
• Experience with data quality checks and observable pipelines.
• Ability to align technical decisions with business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own data platform architecture, ingestion, and environment strategy.
• Define freshness and ingestion strategies balancing value and cost.
• Partner with Platform Engineering for secure, reliable data infra.
• Drive data integrations from requirements to documentation and support.
• Ensure pipeline reliability with monitoring, backfills, and incident handling.
• Lead legacy migration away from Azure Data Factory and old workflows.
• Set governance, data contracts, and observability standards.
• Leverage AI/automation to accelerate debugging and pipelines.
