Job summary

Point One Navigation Inc is seeking a Staff Computer Vision Engineer to own end-to-end development of spatial AI and visual navigation. You will translate state-of-the-art CV/SLAM into production-grade algorithms, optimize for edge devices, and ensure reliable perception across devices and environments.

You will mentor juniors, drive benchmarking, and collaborate with UI and infra teams to expose maps and assets through robust data models and APIs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional algorithm and software development experience with depth in CV or robotics.
• Expertise in C++ (C++14+) and Python with real-time production systems; PyTorch/TF experience.
• Hands-on with Visual SLAM, 3D reconstruction, and mapping architectures.
• Experience deploying semantic segmentation/object detection in real environments.
• Familiarity with ROS1/ROS2 and sensor fusion (IMU, GNSS).
• Strong ability to decompose goals into tasks, schedules and milestones.
• MS/PhD in CS, Robotics or equivalent; edge deployment experience expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, evaluation, and selection of CV and spatial navigation methods for 3D maps.
• Develop or integrate DL and classical CV algorithms for semantic overlay on maps.
• Design benchmarking to compare internal code with external solutions.
• Prototype perception capabilities and transition them to edge production code.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and UI teams to render maps and track assets.
• Drive real-time localization and multi-agent tracking with indoor positioning signals.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture discussions.
