Job summary

Quidient seeks a SLAM Engineer to advance on-device visual-inertial SLAM for mobile capture. You will optimize the live tracking pipeline for real-time performance and robustness, pushing accuracy across varied real-world scenarios.

You will collaborate with deep learning and vision experts, extend calibration pipelines for multi-sensor rigs, and thrive in a hybrid role near Columbia, MD, with security checks to support sensitive projects.

Qualifications

• PhD/MS in CS/CV/Robotics or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on real-time VI-SLAM experience with camera pipelines.
• Strong C++ and Python skills for tooling and ML work.
• Knowledge of multiview geometry and inertial sensing.
• Sensor calibration on real hardware experience.
• Willingness to work on-site in Columbia, MD (hybrid).
• Ability to read DL literature and integrate learned components.

Responsibilities

• Develop on-device visual-inertial odometry and VI-SLAM pipelines.
• Improve robustness for low-light, fast motion, textureless scenes.
• Lower latency and memory use on mobile hardware; GPU offload where possible.
• Extend camera/IMU calibration pipelines across multi-sensor setups.
• Collaborate with DL team to integrate learning-based methods.
