Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in electrical/automation/related field or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years in controls engineering, automation, or industrial system integration.
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA/HMI platforms, and industrial networks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects in automation platforms including PLC, HMI, SCADA, historians, and industrial networks.
  • Collaborate with the Controls Integration Manager and project team to design from concept to commissioning.
  • Develop project specifications, estimates, change orders, and schedules.
  • Identify changes by understanding project scope and schedule.
  • Translate requirements into control configurations and ladder logic.
  • Design network architectures and robust control strategies.
  • Provide mentorship to less experienced engineers and team members.
  • Procure equipment and materials with vendors as needed.
  • Interface with clients and project managers for updates and guidance.
  • Conduct system programming, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning at client sites.
  • Deliver technical support and field service for installed systems.
  • Review wiring diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Assist with design and layout of electrical control panels and cabinets.
  • Ensure configurations comply with industry codes, safety and cybersecurity standards.

Argus is seeking an experienced Staff Controls & Integration Engineer II to join our team of innovators. What You’ll Do
  • Own and lead projects executed in automation platforms including PLC, HMI, SCADA, historians, and industrial networks.
  • Collaborate with the Controls Integration Manager and project team to execute control system designs from concept to commissioning.
  • Assist in developing project specifications, estimates, change orders, and schedules.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project scope and schedule and proactively identify changes.
  • Translate functional requirements into control system configurations and programmable logic.
  • Design network architectures and develop robust control strategies.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to less experienced engineers and team members.
  • Work with system vendors to procure equipment and materials as needed.
  • Interface with clients and project managers to deliver timely updates and technical guidance.
  • Conduct system programming, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning, both in-house and at client or partner sites.
  • Deliver technical support and field service for installed control systems and respond to client emergency calls.
  • Review technical documentation including wiring diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Assist with the design and layout of electrical control panels and cabinets.
  • Ensure system configurations comply with industry codes, safety standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Adapt quickly to new technologies and apply learned concepts to system design and implementation.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronics & Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 6+ years in controls engineering, automation, or industrial system integration.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Modicon/Schneider/Control Expert/M580).
  • Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (Ignition, Wonderware System Platform, FactoryTalk View).
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPCUA, MQTT).
  • Knowledge of industrial automation standards (UL 508A, NFPA 79, ISO 13849, IEC 61131).
  • Familiarity with relational databases preferred (DB2, SQL).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
  • The position requires work in an office environment with occasional light travel for installation and commissioning.
