Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Hardware Engineer in Sunnyvale to define the architecture for connectivity platforms across GM vehicle lines. You will work with silicon vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, robust hardware solutions from concept through production.

The role requires deep expertise in system architecture, high-speed design, SI/PI, and multi-domain integration, plus a track record of leading through ambiguity and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of hardware development focusing on system architecture and integration.
• Deep expertise in SoC-based system design including power architecture, clocks, resets, and boot flows.
• Strong experience with high-speed digital design (PCIe, USB, Ethernet, LPDDR) and SI/PI considerations.

Responsibilities

• Define and own system architecture for connectivity platforms across vehicle programs, including SoC selection and high-speed interfaces.
• Guide schematic design and PCB layout across teams, ensuring SI/PI and RF coexistence."
• Lead validation and debugging of complex system-level issues spanning silicon, hardware, RF, and software interactions.
• Interface with silicon vendors and cross-functional teams to align on platform functionality and performance.
• Mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence, reviews, and scalable hardware development practices.
