Job summary

Aurora seeks a Staff Cybersecurity Engineer to mature cloud and enterprise detection within the D&R team, leading cross-functional projects and hands-on work to raise the maturity of detection at scale.

You will design and tune detections across cloud control plane, workload activity, identity, and SaaS threats, mentor SOC engineers, and drive multi-quarter initiatives with Cloud Infra, IT, and Platform Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of security experience and proven leadership of cross‑functional security projects.
• Strong foundation in threat detection and incident response.
• Experience with cloud security across major providers and cloud telemetry sources.
• Experience building or maturing detection infra—SIEM or data lake pipelines.
• Expertise with EDR and SaaS security monitoring.
• Experience with MITRE ATT&CK and NIST CSF.
• Ability to write quality Python code.

Responsibilities

• Drive cross-functional projects to mature detection infrastructure and pipelines.
• Expand detection coverage across cloud and enterprise environments.
• Design, build, and tune detections for cloud, endpoints, and SaaS threats.
• Collaborate with Cloud Infra, IT, and Platform Eng to embed detection in system design.
• Mentor SOC engineers and contribute to quarterly planning.
• Respond to incidents and participate in on‑call rotations.
