Job summary

Aurora is hiring a Staff Cybersecurity Engineer to mature Cloud & Enterprise Detection within our Detection & Response team. You will lead multi‑quarter initiatives, work closely with Cloud Infrastructure and IT, and drive improvements to our security telemetry and detection coverage.

The role emphasizes senior, hands‑on work and collaboration across engineering teams, with on‑call duties and mentorship of SOC staff in cloud and enterprise detection practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of security experience and demonstrated leadership of cross‑functional security projects.
• Strong foundation in threat detection and incident response.
• Experience with cloud security across major providers and telemetry sources.
• Experience building or maturing detection infrastructure including SIEM/data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Drive cross‑functional projects to mature detection infrastructure and CI/CD for detection content.
• Expand detection coverage across cloud and enterprise environments; prioritize improvements.
• Design, build and tune detections for cloud control plane, identity, endpoint and SaaS activity.
• Partner with IT, Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Engineering to embed logging and detection requirements.
• Integrate threat intelligence and conduct proactive threat hunting across data sources.
• Respond to incidents and participate in an on‑call rotation; feed lessons learned back into detection.
• Mentor SOC engineers on cloud and enterprise detection practices; contribute to quarterly planning.
