Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Cybersecurity Engineer to mature Cloud & Enterprise Detection within the Detection & Response team. You will lead multi-quarter initiatives, hands-on work, and partner with Cloud Infra, IT, and Platform Engineering to strengthen detection at scale.

You will design detections across cloud control planes, endpoints, identity, SaaS, and CI/CD, while integrating threat intelligence and conducting proactive threat hunting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of security experience and proven ability to lead cross-functional security projects from scoping through delivery.
• Strong technical foundation in threat detection and incident response.
• Cloud security expertise across major providers with cloud-native telemetry and detection sources.
• Experience building or maturing detection infrastructure such as SIEM or data lakes, log onboarding and normalization, and detection-as-code workflows.
• Expertise with EDR and SaaS security monitoring, or equivalent host and application telemetry depth.
• Experience authoring and maintaining detections and measuring coverage against adversary behavior.
• Experience with incident management and cross-departmental collaboration for containment and remediation.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and modern adversarial techniques; knowledge of NIST CSF.
• Ability to write quality, testable Python code.

Responsibilities

• Drive cross-functional projects to mature detection infrastructure and pipelines.
• Expand detection coverage across cloud and corporate environments.
• Design, build, and tune detections for cloud, identity, endpoint, and SaaS activity.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, IT, and Platform Engineering to embed logging and detection requirements.
• Integrate threat intelligence and conduct proactive threat hunting across cloud, identity, endpoint, and SaaS data.
• Respond to cloud and enterprise security incidents and participate in on-call rotations.
• Mentor SOC engineers and contribute to quarterly planning for detection infrastructure.
