Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Staff Clinical Engineer based in Boston, MA or Raynham, MA with in-office expectations of at least three days per week. You will partner with product development teams and clinicians to move early ideas into clinically relevant orthopedic devices and features, advancing surgical robotics and navigation.

You will provide clinical and technical expertise to inform user needs and regulatory requirements, drive risk analyses, support verification, and collaborate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Robotics Engineering; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• Experience with surgical robotics and principles of biomechanics.
• Expertise in design validation, process development, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Contribute clinical and technical expertise to ideation and early-stage evaluation of novel design concepts.
• Support feasibility assessment and prototype development aligned with clinical needs and regulatory pathways.
• Support prototype/product demonstrations for stakeholders, customers, and external partners.
• Collaborate with teams to define patient journey and product maps; drive clinical/operational needs to increase innovation value.
• Lead clinical hazard analyses and risk maps to inform scope and timelines.
• Stay informed on trends in computer-assisted orthopedic surgery and navigated devices.
• Translate insights into actionable project goals for prototype development.
