Join to apply for the Staff Civil/Geotechnical Engineer role at GEI Consultants, Inc.

GEI’s Mid-Atlantic area offices (Washington DC, Rockville MD, and Charlottesville VA) are seeking an entry-level Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to support field and engineering design efforts under the supervision of senior staff. Responsibilities include coordinating and documenting geotechnical and environmental soil borings, installing wells and instrumentation, collecting samples, and supporting design projects involving foundations, ground improvement, earth retention, and instrumentation.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

• Supporting site investigations, soil testing, environmental sampling, and overseeing subcontractors
• Interpreting lab tests and preparing engineering analyses and reports
• Supporting design efforts, including preparing documents and drawings using AutoCAD
• Observing and documenting field activities during construction

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a geotechnical focus
• 0-3 years of relevant experience in civil/geotechnical/environmental engineering
• Experience with geotechnical design software, Civil 3D, GIS
• Strong technical writing and communication skills
• Willingness to travel and perform field tasks in various conditions
• Valid U.S. driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Geotechnical Engineering
• Construction observation/management experience
• Programming experience and OSHA/HAZWOPER training
