Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Transportation team in Chicago is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to support roadway projects across DOTs, counties, tollway, and Design-Build. You will work with our highway group to design and review plans, supervise technical design, and contribute to multi-project delivery.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clients and internal teams, applying design standards, QA/QC, and leveraging tools like MicroStation and InRoads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree ABET accredited with 3+ years civil consulting experience
• ABET-accredited degree with FE exam completion and 3+ years civil consulting experience
• Master Degree in Civil Engineering with 2+ years civil consulting experience

Responsibilities

• Assist with project management tasks and lead technical designs
• Prepare design details, plans and drawings to meet deadlines
• Perform roadway design including alignments, profiles and intersections
• Support drainage, traffic control, signing and marking, and illumination
• Develop design criteria, quantities and cost estimates
