Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Austin, TX is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to join the expanding Transportation Design group. You will work with leadership and a multidisciplinary team to design roadway projects, plan routes, and develop deliverables.

The role emphasizes quality, deadlines, and client service. Ideal candidates have an ABET-accredited civil engineering degree with 3+ years of experience (FE or PE preferred) and strong knowledge of civil techniques, software, and coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with 3 years of civil engineering experience.
• FE exam and 3 years of civil engineering experience if not holding PE.
• Master’s in Civil Engineering with 2 years of experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design details, plans, and drawings with a team to meet project deadlines.
• Develop and review technical roadway designs including alignments, profiles, intersections, and interchanges.
• Support drainage, signing, traffic control, and illumination design elements as part of transportation projects.
• Develop design criteria, calculations, quantities, and cost estimates following current standards.
• Participate in QA/QC processes for project deliverables and submittals.
• Provide professional and responsive service to internal and external clients.
