Job summary

The Kleingers Group is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to lead roadway design and oversee planning, evaluation and implementation of civil projects. The successful candidate will guide project teams, interact with clients, and mentor co-ops and interns while delivering compliant designs and engineering analyses.

You will work across civil, environmental, construction and industrial disciplines, using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation and OpenRoads, and ensure progress to schedule

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering degree required.
  • 3–5 years of roadway engineering experience.
  • PE licensure is preferred but not required.
  • Strong CAD and design software proficiency.
  • Ability to manage co-ops/interns and collaborate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead roadway design projects and provide guidance to project stakeholders.
  • Render designs using CAD and drawing tools; develop plans and improvements.
  • Set design specifications including water flow, traffic, and earthwork calculations.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and surveyors to progress projects.
  • Monitor progress and ensure compliance with design standards.

Job DescriptionJob Description

The Staff Civil Engineer will provide technical leadership to project teams who will be working on planning, evaluation, design and implementation of civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will lead the study-phase and/or design-phase of projects related to the civil, environmental, construction and industrial fields. The Staff Civil Engineer would regularly have interaction with employees outside of their department, regularly have interaction with clients, occasionally interact with the public (agencies, government entities, etc.), and rarely participate in selling to clients. The person in this role will be expected to manage assigned co-ops/interns, while being an example of professional presence, representing the Company and the department in a positive light, and have intermediate level of software knowledge of at least two (2) engineering software packages.

This role is notrequiredto haveaProfessional Engineeringlicense.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • This role will be focused on Roadway Design.
  • Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, and modifications.
  • Usesdesignsoftwareanddrawingtoolstoaccuratelyrenderandcommunicate designs;plansand designs other necessary improvement related to type of project assigned.
  • Setsdesign specificationsbycomputingappropriate engineering requirements (i.e.-water flow rates, traffic demand, earth work balance, etc.).
  • Plansprojectsbasedontheanalysisofrelevantmaterialssuchasdrawings,blueprints,aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
  • Drafts andpresents reports ontopics relatedto projects suchasdetention reportsandengineering due diligence reports.
  • Perform calculations for materials, equipment, andlabor needed to determine probable construction cost.
  • Collaborateswitharchitects,contractors,andotherengineerstoensureprojectsprogressproperly.
  • Collaborates with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
  • Monitorsprojectprogressandensuresdesignspecificationsandstandardsaremet.
  • AbletoteachandexplaintoothersthemethodologiesusedbyTheCompany.
  • Intermediatelevelofunderstandingofdesigntoolsandcivilengineeringpractices.
  • Fundamentaldesignofprojectsforsites.Inclusiveofdetentiondesign.
  • Participateinappropriate meetings,associationmemberships,andeventsto establish,develop,and grow networking contacts.
  • Performsotherrelateddutiesasassigned.
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
  • Civil Engineering or related degree required.
  • Three to five (3 to 5) consecutive years of Roadway Engineering experience .
  • Executebasicdesignprojectsfromstartto finishastheprimarydesigneroftheproject.
  • Developbaselineknowledgeofstateandlocalregulations
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure , although not required.
Required Skill and Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software: AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStations,OpenRoads.
  • Must be able to do Municipal Roadway Plan Review.
  • Basic understanding ofmaterials, methods, andtoolsinvolved in the construction orrepair ofsiteand transportation infrastructure improvements.
  • Abilitytoidentifyandsolve complexproblems.
  • Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.
  • Abilitytobebothcreativeandanalytical.
