Job summary

Aurora Operations, Inc. in Mountain View, CA seeks a Staff CAE Engineer to drive vehicle platform integration, lead cross-functional analysis, and develop robust CAE solutions for autonomous driving platforms.

You will develop, prototype, and test new architectures for Level 4 systems, coordinate with design teams, and ensure documentation of technical decisions and safety case evidence.

Qualifications

• 5 years of expereince with data science.
• Detailed knowledge of CFD and Conjugate Heat Transfer.
• Experience with hardware design and reducing design iterations.
• Experience in design of consumer or automotive electronics.
• Industry experience with design teams to perform analysis during design.
• Deep understanding of complex assemblies and high fidelity results.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for metal parts (bending, welding, casting, etc).
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for plastic parts (injection molding, 3D printing, machining, etc).
• Knowledge of PCB assembly and how it affects mechanical properties.
• Experience with ANSYS CFD tools: Workbench, Fluent, SpaceClaim, Icepak.
• Experience with material testing (Charpy, Izod, tensile) to determine properties.
• Experience with environmental testing of components and subassemblies.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on at the interface of the Aurora Driver and vehicle platforms to provide technical direction and influence cross-functional decisions.
• Prioritize and coordinate work across teams to support vehicle platform integration and performance objectives.
• Develop, analyze, prototype, and test new vehicle and drive-by-wire system architectures for Level 4 autonomous vehicles.
• Independently design technical solutions to satisfy product and engineering requirements and document decisions.
• Provide vehicle-specific functional integration support for Aurora’s evolving hardware kit generations.
• Develop and execute on-vehicle test plans aligned with platform requirements, including verification and performance characterization.
• Provide cross-functional technical leadership by defining test priorities and coordinating stakeholders.
• Investigate fleet field issues and identify mitigations with cross-functional teams and OEM partners.
• Drive continuous improvement and develop tools and processes to improve fleet performance.
• Own and deliver technical evidence supporting Aurora’s Safety Case for driverless applications.
