About the Role

Pennoni is hiring passionate Staff Bridge Engineers to join our collaborative, fun team on a full-time, direct basis at our Transportation Design Hub in Newark, DE. The role involves:

1. Performing bridge design, rehabilitation, and load rating projects, mentoring junior staff, and providing technical oversight.
2. Managing multiple projects, including design and inspections across the Mid-Atlantic region, especially Delaware and surrounding states.
3. Mentoring staff regarding performance and progress.
4. Interacting with clients on technical challenges and potential project management opportunities.
5. Developing proposals, scopes of work, and man-hour estimates, with some travel anticipated.
6. Creating reports, specifications, and technical documents.

Required Attributes

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, In-Roads, and GeoPak.
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural focus).
• 4-7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in bridge design, rehabilitation, and solving related challenges.
• Knowledge of MicroStation and Open Bridge Modeler preferred.
• Understanding of AASHTO and state DOT design criteria, with experience with DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, DCDOT, or PennDOT projects.
• Strong communication skills, leadership qualities, and ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
• Experience with structural analysis software like SAP, STAAD, LEAP Bridge, etc.

Preferred Attributes

• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
• PE License.
• Experience with FHWA inspection courses, load rating, BrIM/BIM, and proposal development.
• Engagement in professional societies is encouraged.
