Job Description

  • Perform bridge design as part of multi-disciplinary projects, focusing on design, rehabilitation, and load rating, while mentoring junior staff and providing technical oversight.
  • Oversee multiple projects including design and bridge inspections for clients in the Mid-Atlantic region, especially Delaware and surrounding states.
  • Mentor staff regarding performance and project progress.
  • Interact with clients on technical challenges, with opportunities for project management roles.
  • Develop proposals, scopes of work, and man-hour estimates; some travel expected.
  • Prepare reports, specifications, and technical documents.

Required Attributes

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, In-Roads, and GeoPak.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • 4-7 years of experience in bridge design and rehabilitation projects.
  • Experience with MicroStation, especially Open Bridge Modeler, and understanding of AASHTO and state DOT design criteria, including prior work with DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, DCDOT, and PennDOT.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software such as SAP, STAAD, LEAP Bridge, LEAP Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, BRASS.
  • Leadership qualities to lead project tasks and mentor engineers.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Attributes

  • PE license.
  • Completion of FHWA-NHI-13005 and/or FHWA-NHI-130078 courses.
  • Experience with proposal development, scope, and man-hour estimation.
  • Prior load rating experience and familiarity with BrIM/BIM processes.
  • Leadership roles in professional societies are encouraged.
