Hostaway is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the architecture and delivery of a new 0-1 Trust Accounting subsystem, a greenfield financial platform for property managers.

You will shape the technical direction, collaborate with product, design, finance and legal, ensure security, observability, and auditable data, and mentor other engineers to elevate the team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with staff-level capability.
• Strong backend language experience building production-grade services.
• Experience with reliability, observability, and failure modes in production.
• Architectural instincts for simple-to-evolve systems.
• Cross-team influence and platform adoption experience.
• Infrastructure fluency with AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Architect a Greenfield System and own V1 Trust Accounting product vision.
• Build core backend services for a secure, scalable, auditable subsystem.
• Establish quality gates, testing, and CI/CD integration.
• Lead best practices for system design, observability, and security.
• Collaborate with product, design, finance, and legal teams.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and pairing.
