Job summary

AmaWaterways is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs powering our digital products. You will work primarily in .NET/C#, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and mentor junior engineers within an Agile team on Azure-based platforms.

Responsibilities include architecture, data access optimization, CI/CD, security, observability, and collaboration across product, QA, and Platform Engineering to deliver high-quality releases for booking,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• Five+ years of professional software engineering with backend focus.
• Strong experience with .NET/C# and API design (REST/GraphQL).
• Experience with Azure cloud platform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and caching (Redis).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs (.NET/C#, RESTful, GraphQL).
• Architect backend systems, produce design docs and diagrams.
• Translate requirements into robust technical designs and communicate trade-offs.
• Optimize data access, relational and NoSQL patterns, and caching strategies.
• Develop secure APIs with versioning, observability, and reliability.
• Integrate with external systems and identity platforms; ensure secure data exchange.
• Drive CI/CD, monitoring, telemetry, and incident response across services.
