Job summary

ResortPass seeks a Staff Engineer in New York to lead the evolution of our booking platform and external API. This hands-on role involves architecting scalable systems, guiding backend engineers, and partnering with Product, Partnerships, and hotel operations to shape the platform.

You will own architecture decisions, set reliability targets, and drive migrations while delivering production-ready code. Experience with relational modeling, concurrency, and APIs will help you collaborate at scale.

Qualifications

• Led substantial technical work across multiple engineers or teams.
• Designed transactional systems and APIs that others depend on.
• Understands relational modeling, concurrency, and asynchronous workflows.
• Safely evolved an existing production system and can explain tradeoffs.
• Hands-on engineer who can drive decisions and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Evolve models for products, pricing, availability, holds, and reservations.
• Build and launch a versioned external API for pricing, availability, holds, booking, changes, and cancellations.
• Make booking operations reliable through retries, timeouts, idempotency, webhooks, and reconciliation.
• Lead migrations, set reliability targets, and ensure observability and safe rollbacks.
• Mentor engineers, review designs, and drive architecture across teams.
