Job summary

Dune is developing market data platforms to deliver timely, accurate onchain and related data to institutional customers. This Staff Engineer role focuses on designing scalable systems across chains, ensuring correctness, latency and cost while leading technical decisions.

You will implement complex parts, influence product direction, and mentor other engineers in a fully remote team, with AI-assisted development and strong ownership over what you ship.

Qualifications

• Built and operated distributed backend or data services with high reliability and performance.
• Experience with realtime streaming systems and data correctness.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and backend engineering skills.
• Able to turn ambiguous requirements into pragmatic designs for production services.
• Excellent written communication and collaboration in distributed teams.
• Financial or market data experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed ingestion, normalization, processing, storage and delivery of realtime market data.
• Develop streaming solutions handling event ordering, timestamps, duplicates, replay, gaps and recovery.
• Create reliable client feeds and APIs with clear contracts and schema evolution.
• Collaborate on reference data models and historical data capture.
• Define service objectives and data quality measures; monitor latency and correctness.
• Lead root-cause analysis and drive improvements; participate in on-call rotations.
• Own services through deployment; mentor engineers and review designs.
