Horizon3 is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend for the NodeZero Assessment Experience team. This role anchors technical direction, designs scalable backend services and APIs, and leads architectural decisions.

Remote-first without a fixed location, offering up to 10% travel. Base salary range is $230,000–$270,000 with equity. Requires 8+ years of backend experience and cloud/Docker expertise. proficiency in Python/Go/TypeScript.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering with backend ownership.
• Experience building backend services in Python/Go/TypeScript.
• Strong SQL skills and relational database design.
• Cloud exposure with Dockerized services and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for Assessment Experience backend systems from concept to deployment.
• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and workflows for reliable assessments.
• Lead architectural decisions balancing velocity, reliability, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross-team collaboration across content and integrations.
