Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Core Services team to build the asset management solution enabling scalable autonomous fleet operations. You will help design and implement backend services, APIs, and real-time components in a cloud environment, partnering with cross-functional teams.

You will lead architecture decisions, drive reliability and scalability, and mentor teammates while delivering impactful features for Aurora’s autonomous mobility platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building backend services.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with web communication protocols: REST, gRPC, GraphQL.
• Experience with large-scale, high-concurrency, safety-critical backend systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to write clear specs and collaborate.
• Action-oriented with balance of speed and quality; self-starter in a growing environment.
• Ability to own the product lifecycle end-to-end with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design complex systems from the ground up in collaboration with software, hardware and infra teams.
• Partner with PMs, designers and operators to deliver value of self-driving tech quickly, safely, and broadly.
• Design, implement and maintain a micro-backend architecture in AWS to monitor and manage the fleet.
• Develop the fleet management solution and vehicle communication system.
• Establish scalable, highly available and reliable infrastructure for products.
• Mentor teammates and foster a culture of collaboration and engineering excellence.
