Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Core Services team to build a scalable asset management solution for autonomous vehicle fleets. You will design and implement backend services, collaborate with product, design and operations teams, and drive plans to scale our fleet operations across cloud and on-road deployments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building backend services.
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with web communication protocols REST, gRPC and GraphQL.
• Experience with large-scale, high-concurrency, safety-critical backend services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to write technical specs and provide feedback.

Responsibilities

• Design complex systems from the ground up, partnering with software, hardware and infrastructure teams.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers and Operations to deliver value quickly, safely and broadly.
• Design, implement and maintain a micro-backend architecture on AWS to monitor and manage the fleet.
• Develop the fleet management solution and vehicle communication system.
• Scale products with high availability and reliability infrastructure.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to engineering culture.
