Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Core Services team to design and build the asset management solution that scales our autonomous vehicle fleet. You will work across software, hardware, and infrastructure to deliver a robust backend platform in AWS that monitors and manages the Aurora Commercial Fleet.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building backend services.
• Experience with web communication protocols (REST, gRPC, GraphQL).
• Experience building large-scale, high-concurrency, safety-critical backend services.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of writing effective technical specs and giving feedback.
• Ability to own product lifecycle end-to-end and collaborate with product/design teams.

Responsibilities

• Design complex systems from the ground up in collaboration with software, hardware and infrastructure teams.
• Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Operations to deliver value quickly, safely, and broadly.
• Design and maintain a micro-backend architecture running in AWS to monitor and manage the fleet.
• Develop fleet management and vehicle communication systems.
• Scale products with high availability and reliability through solid infrastructure choices.
• Mentor and contribute to the team culture around collaboration and engineering excellence.
