Job summary

Machinify is seeking a Staff or Senior Backend Engineer to lead backend architecture and cloud-native services for COB & Subrogate products. Remote work from anywhere in the US, with aggressive ownership and collaboration across PM, ML/DS, QA and UX.

The role emphasizes Rust expertise, production systems, and delivering high-stakes payment‑integrity solutions while mentoring teammates and driving architectural excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience for Staff, 6+ years for Senior.
• Strong application design and system architecture across complex backends.
• Experience writing technical design documents.
• Production Rust experience plus Java, Go, or Scala.
• Hands-on with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Set architecture and technical direction for backend systems.
• Ship cloud-native services powering high-stakes decisions.
• Own services in production with reliability and observability.
• Mentor engineers and raise programming maturity as Rust scales.
• Collaborate with PM, ML/DS, QA and UX to shape product outcomes.
• Work directly with customers on mission-critical systems.
