Job summary

Cube is seeking a Staff Back-End Engineer to serve as a technical North Star for our engineering organization. You will shape architectural patterns, infrastructure standards, and engineering habits that enable the entire team to scale.

Reporting to an Engineering Manager, you will be an strategic individual contributor across multiple problem spaces, partnering with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to transform ambiguous financial workflows into robust distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Staff-level impact and technical leadership
• Experience with multi-tenant architectures
• Strong ability to explain architectural trade-offs to executives
• Experience with Django internals and performance tuning
• Data-driven, finance-focused workflow experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Define architectural direction and engineering patterns across teams
• Own complex backend systems, deployments, and reliability
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing infrastructure, and release processes
• Lead production incidents, root-cause analysis and long-term remediation
• Mentor engineers and promote psychological safety and continuous improvement
