Job summary

Grafana Labs is seeking a staff-level backend engineer to help build the first production services for an AI-native data intelligence system. The role focuses on ingestion, indexing, retrieval APIs, and agent integrations, evolving prototypes into a production-grade multi-tenant SaaS.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience building and operating production backend services at staff or senior level.
• Strong programming skills in Go or a comparable backend language, with distributed systems expertise.
• Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS concerns such as isolation, quotas, audit logs, and background processing.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and operate the first production services for context ingestion, indexing, retrieval orchestration, APIs, source configuration, and system administration
• Help shape the multi-tenant SaaS foundation, including tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, and background jobs
• Build APIs and service interfaces that let AI agents, MCP tools, CLIs, and internal applications retrieve context along with provenance, confidence signals, and warnings
• Partner with product and infrastructure colleagues to balance fast experimentation with long-term reliability as the system moves from prototype to production
• Instrument services for observability and take responsibility for operating what you build
