Job summary

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff-level Backend Engineer to build the first production services for the context layer management system, focusing on ingestion, indexing, retrieval APIs, and agent integrations.

You will own architecture decisions, enable a scalable SaaS foundation, and work with product and infrastructure to evolve from prototype to production-grade systems in a remote-first, globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building production-grade backend systems.
• Hands-on with AI/GenAI and cloud-native architectures.
• Ability to own components end-to-end from design to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate core backend services for the context layer.
• Build multi-tenant SaaS foundations with isolation, quotas, audits.
• Create agent-facing retrieval workflows and API interfaces.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, and dashboards.
