Job summary

Noom is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Architecture team in Princeton. You will drive technical leadership for the backend platform, shaping configuration, entitlements, and shared data services used by multiple teams, while actively contributing as an IC.

In the near term, you will help refine agentic backend development practices and, long term, define Noom's architecture vision to scale securely and compliantly, with a focus on AI-enabled tooling to boost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in backend engineering at senior/staff level
• Backend platform experience at large-scale D2C or B2B2C
• Familiarity with distributed systems handling high-volume platforms
• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin and Spring
• Relational databases and cloud infra (AWS preferred)
• Architecting scalable, fault-tolerant integrations with external systems
• Strong leadership and ability to influence teams
• Interest or experience in AI-based tooling

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure backend systems
• Evolve core backend platform services: config, entitlements, shared data
• Set architectural vision for Noom's core platform and scalability
• Cross-functionally work with tech leaders, digging into problems
• Refine and drive adoption of agentic backend service development
• Leverage AI-driven tools to boost velocity and innovation
• Contribute to codebases (50%), drive architecture (25%), mentor (25%)
