About the Role

As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a Technical Lead Manager, Engineering to scale the Noom Med business and expand our platform capabilities. This role will be instrumental in making our infrastructure more robust so we can offer consumers a broader range of clinical services.

You Will

• Lead and manage a team of engineers while contributing directly to code and architecture.
• Drive architectural decisions and help define the long‑term technical vision for the Noom Med platform.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders across product, clinical, and operations teams to deliver impactful and scalable solutions.
• Balance hands‑on coding (30%), architecture design (30%), and people leadership (40%).
• Support career growth for your reports through regular coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
• Ensure quality, security, and performance best practices across our systems.

About You

You Have

• Extensive experience as a backend software engineer, 2+ years as a tech lead / team lead and 1+ years of experience formally managing an engineering team, ideally in a Java/backend environment.
• Strong platform and architectural skills, with backend expertise.
• Comfort working hands‑on in codebases and making architectural decisions.
• A proven ability to lead complex technical projects involving many stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, especially in translating technical ideas to non‑technical partners.
• Experience hiring and growing engineering teams with a strong and inclusive culture.
• A passion for mentoring and developing engineers.
• Nice‑to‑have: Knowledge of FHIR and experience with EMR systems.

Compensation Package

• The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $192,000–$225,000.
• This range reflects the minimum and maximum salary target for the position for US‑based candidates, at the time of posting. The actual salary offer is based on factors including relevant experience and training, assessment of functional skills and behavioral competencies, and location, among others.
• Noom offers a comprehensive and generous total rewards package. This may include a discretionary performance‑based bonus, stock awards, healthcare (featuring a plan with premiums covered by Noom), paid holidays and paid leave (including Summer Fridays), 401k program, and various cash stipends and budgets for employees (wellness, tech, learning & development, etc).

Location

This position is a hybrid role, with 2 days/week (Wed & Thurs) on‑site required in our Princeton, NJ, USA office.
