Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Agent Engagement and Experience team. You will architect distributed backend systems using Go and orchestrate scale with Kubernetes and cloud tooling, delivering end-to-end features for CX and compliance workflows.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and partner across time zones to improve platform reliability and business outcomes. This is a remote-first role with quarterly in-person surges, based in the United States.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with distributed systems.
• Proficient in Go and backend services including API development (gRPC, GraphQL).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps tooling (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD).
• Proven track record leading technical projects end-to-end and mentoring engineers.
• Commitment to responsible use of AI and measurable workflow improvements.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver distributed backend systems and infrastructure components.
• Define technical direction and roadmaps with management and stakeholders.
• Build high-reliability services for CX and compliance workflows.
• Mentor engineers on design, testing, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with multi-time-zone teams and communicate complex concepts clearly.
