Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a senior engineer to lead autonomous-system delivery across emerging platforms. You will own end-to-end integration, guide cross-functional teams, and drive architecture decisions from concept to live testing.

This role demands deep C++ and Linux expertise, hands-on autonomy experience, and the ability to operate in ambiguous environments. Travel ~10–20% and a clear path to impact across air, maritime, and space domains are expected.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Expert C++ and Linux development experience.
• Experience leading complex autonomy or systems integration efforts.
• Experience influencing technical direction across engineering teams.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Stand Up New Programs – Lead technical efforts to establish autonomy on new platforms, developing platform-specific solutions.
• Navigate Ambiguity & Shifting Priorities – Adapt plans as requirements evolve while maintaining engineering momentum.
• Develop & Field Autonomy – Lead development and integration of autonomy software across emerging-domain platforms.
• Technical Leadership – Mentor engineers, remove obstacles, and drive delivery of complex capabilities.
• Platform Team Partnerships – Coordinate with platform engineering teams on interfaces and readiness.
• Collaboration Across Teams & Partners – Work with Autonomy Capabilities, Perception, GCS, and customers.
• Design & Documentation – Lead design reviews and ICD development.
• Pre-deployment Preparation – Oversee validation and mission readiness for deployments.
• On-site Test & Mission Support – Provide leadership during live testing and demonstrations.
• Hardware/Software Debugging – Lead root-cause analysis across autonomy stacks.
• Mission Data & Debrief Support – Analyze results and drive improvements.
• Continuous Improvement – Improve processes and deployment workflows.
• C2 Interoperability & Standards – Drive interfaces and interoperability standards.
• Travel Requirement – ~10–20% travel to offices and field sites.
