Lone Star Legal Aid seeks a Staff Attorney - Rural Justice Initiative for multiple Texas branch offices including Beaumont. This position requires strong legal skills, travel across counties served, and bilingual (Spanish & English) abilities preferred.

The attorney will handle civil lawsuits, provide legal services to low-income Texans, and engage in outreach and community education as part of LSLA’s mission.

Qualificações

• Strong legal writing and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated client service orientation
• Skilled in interviewing, assessment, problem solving and negotiation
• Strong ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly
• Demonstrated ability to aggressively pursue the rights of the client community
• Energetic, motivated and self-started

Responsabilidades

• Gather evidence, conduct civil lawsuits, draft legal documents, and advise clients about their legal rights
• Interview clients and witnesses and prepare for client representation
• Represent clients in court and before government agencies
• Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for clients and the community
• Engage in outreach and community education; may supervise staff or volunteers
• Handle a caseload including major litigation and evening clinics
