The Staff Attorney for the Board on Professional Responsibility provides legal advice and support to Board members and Hearing Committees on ethics and attorney discipline. The role reports to the Executive Attorney and supports the attorneys overseeing investigations and decisions.

Hybrid position with in-office and remote work days; strong emphasis on legal research, writing, and timely, precise work products. Commitment to diversity and professional conduct is essential.

Qualifikationen

• JD from ABA-accredited law school.
• DC Bar membership in good standing (or pending application).
• Proficiency in MS Office 365; proficiency in Westlaw and electronic legal research.
• Familiarity with The Bluebook and proper citation.”
• Ability to write clearly and concisely on complex legal issues.

Aufgaben

• Drafts research memoranda and provides advice to Board and Hearing Committee members for oral arguments/hearings.
• Assists in preparing Board and Hearing Committee reports, including legal research, proofreading and cite checking.
• Assists in reviewing motions and preparing recommendations to Hearing Committee/Board members.
• Maintains summaries of D.C. Court of Appeals opinions and Board Reports.
• Forwards pertinent information including case summaries and abstracts to Board members.
• Maintains office research memoranda and files.
• Assists with preparation for periodic trainings, including training materials.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
