Job summary

The State Bar of Texas is seeking an attorney to support the Chief Disciplinary Counsel during the attorney disciplinary process. You will coordinate with complainants, respondents, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality.

The role requires knowledge of Texas disciplinary rules, strong legal research and writing, and the ability to manage a large caseload. A hybrid work schedule is available, with in-office presence as needed.

Qualifications

  • Active Texas law license required.
  • Minimum of two years of legal experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and related procedures.
  • Ability to perform effective and efficient legal research, analysis and writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, coordinate workflow, work with others, and meet deadlines while handling a large caseload.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the Chief Disciplinary Counsel during the attorney disciplinary process.
  • May represent the State Bar of Texas in litigation.
  • Contact with State Bar departments, complainants, respondents and outside agencies.
  • Evaluate grievances for proper classification and processing.
  • Ensure timely transmission of complaints to regional offices.
  • Notify parties of classification outcomes and advise on appeals.
  • Transmit appealed classifications to the Board of Disciplinary Appeals.
  • Perform duties with confidentiality and professional conduct.
