The Immigration Legal Services Program (ILSP) Staff Attorney at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York is part of the Division's legal team reporting to Supervising Attorneys. The role handles intake, case evaluation, and direct representation before USCIS, EOIR, and NYC family courts in matters like SIJS, asylum, U visas, TPS, and related relief.

Applicants must have a JD; NY Bar admission preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly valued.

Qualifikationen

• Juris Doctor required.
• Experience in family and/or immigration law preferred.
• Admission to NY Bar preferred; will consider applicants working toward admission to the NY Bar

Aufgaben

• Conduct initial intakes and perform in-depth evaluation of eligibility for immigration benefits and/or relief from removal; provide Know Your Rights information.
• Prepare and submit written evaluation memos and consult with supervising attorney to determine legal theory and case strategy.
• Provide direct representation before USCIS and EOIR in SIJS, asylum, U visas, TPS, family petitions and other matters.
• Maintain and update electronic files in LawLogix and physical case files; manage caseload.
• Train, mentor and supervise interns and volunteers; provide trainings and workshops.
