Job summary

Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center in El Paso, TX is hiring a Staff Attorney to champion justice for immigrants by bridging litigation with human-centered advocacy.

The ideal candidate holds a JD with bar admission, 0–3 years in immigration law or related litigation, fluent in English and Spanish, and will work locally out of the El Paso office. Salary ranges from $60,000 to $68,000, with health insurance, a flexible/hybrid schedule, and generous PTO.

Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center is hiring a Staff Attorney to champion justice for immigrants by bridging sophisticated litigation with human-centered advocacy.

Las Americas is a nationally recognized organization that provides high-quality legal services, advocacy, and support to detained and non-detained individuals in El Paso, Texas, and southern New Mexico. Since 1987, we have represented over 50,000 individuals while advocating for systemic change through impact litigation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Litigation & Advocacy: Manage a caseload of clients seeking relief before USCIS, the Immigration Court, and the BIA including preparing applications, motions, and briefs; a directly with ICE; and preparing and representing clients in interviews and hearings.

Requirements

• Education/Bar: Juris Doctorate (JD) with active membership in good standing of any state bar or plans to take an upcoming bar exam.
• Experience: 0 to 3 years of legal experience; immigration law or removal defense experience preferred. Strong candidates from other litigation backgrounds, as well as recent law graduates, are encouraged to apply.
• Skills and Values: Strong communication, organizational, and case management skills under pressure; deep commitment to social justice and immigrant rights.
• Language: Professional fluency in English and Spanish is required.
• Location: Must work locally out of the El Paso, TX office.

Salary and Benefits
