Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc., seeks a full‑time Staff Attorney I or II to assist detained and non‑detained immigrants in removal proceedings in Los Angeles, CA. The role includes applying for relief such as Asylum, SIJS, and Cancellation of Removal, under supervision of a Managing Attorney.

Qualifications include legal experience, strong writing and research skills, and a commitment to social justice for immigrant communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a legal setting, preferably immigration/public interest law.
• Interest in working with newly arrived immigrants and those with complex histories.
• Strong organizational, case management, legal research, and writing skills.
• Ability to take initiative and work under pressure.
• Team player with collaboration and passion for social justice for immigrants.

Responsabilités

• Work on a variety of cases under supervision of a Managing Attorney.
• Represent clients seeking relief such as Asylum, SIJS, Cancellation of Removal.
• Mentor interns and staff, participate in collaboratives, trainings, and community engagement.
• Engage in advocacy, policy work, and other special projects as needed.
