Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE) seeks a Staff Attorney for the Agricultural Worker and Immigrant Rights Practice Group based in Dayton, OH.
The attorney will provide humanitarian immigration representation, including U Visas, T Visas, VAWA self-petitions, and SIJS, while engaging in outreach and community education to empower immigrant communities. The role involves collaboration with attorneys, paralegals, and partners, with a focus on direct representation and systemic impact.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Ohio or eligible by motion/temporary certification.
- Strong commitment to ABLE's mission and serving immigrant/low-income communities.
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality legal representation in immigration matters before USCIS, EOIR, and courts.
- Represent clients in humanitarian immigration matters (U Visas, T Visas, VAWA self-petitions, SIJS, removal defense).
- Conduct client interviews, legal research, case prep, negotiations, filings, and hearings.
- Attend community meetings, outreach activities, and Know Your Rights presentations.
