Job summary

ABLE seeks a Senior Attorney to lead the Agricultural Worker and Immigrant Rights (AIR) practice, mentoring junior staff and steering systemic impact cases across Ohio. The role includes direct representation in humanitarian relief matters and collaboration with pro‑bono partners to broaden advocacy impact.

The attorney will supervise complex litigation, report outcomes to funders, and engage in policy work.

Qualifications

• Litigation experience including litigation planning, legal research, pleadings drafting, motion practice, discovery, and trial experience.
• Expertise in immigration, employment, civil rights, or Constitutional litigation is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and report service outcomes to funders or stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality legal representation to clients in individual, class action, and mass action civil rights and agricultural‑worker employment cases.
• Develop goals and priorities for AIR’s impact litigation throughout Ohio with the AIR leadership.
• Lead litigation plans and manage cases through pleadings, motions, discovery, and hearings; mentor attending attorneys and staff.
• Build relationships with pro‑bono firms and community partners; supervise staff in outreach to litigation partners.
• Develop expertise in immigration matters if capacity allows, including bond, habeas, and removal defense.
• Ensure all legal work meets ABLE's quality standards and achieves measurable outcomes.
• Author publications, present trainings, and participate in advocacy coalitions.
• Use technology to manage cases, track outcomes, and report data; occasional statewide travel.
