The Prince George's County Department of Social Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Staff Assistant (Administrative Aide 2G) position, grade G15, in the Community Services Division.
This is full performance level secretarial/administrative type work designed to relieve an important official of administrative detail. Under general supervision, incumbents perform varied and responsible secretarial and administrative work often of a technical nature and difficulty. Incumbents typically determine appropriate steps to independently complete assignments according to established procedures, referring to the supervisor when necessary. Incumbents may perform routine office management duties and provide technical guidance to subordinate employees. Work requires a broad knowledge of County government functions, programs, and sources to receive and provide information or make referrals relating to the programs of the assigned department/agency. Incumbents at this level report to the head of one of the smaller independent boards or commissions or to an administrative supervisor (generally grades G-24 to G-27). Work performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy and timely completion of projects and assignments.
The Prince George’s County Department of Social Services (PGCDSS) is the primary human services provider in the county, operating as a local agency of the Maryland Department of Human Services. The Department provides opportunities for eligible residents to become independent, responsible, and stable members of the community through public benefit assistance programs. The Department also provides direct support for the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and vulnerable adults living in the county, investigating and addressing instances of suspected abuse or neglect. The work of PGCDSS is done in an effort to build stronger communities, one family at a time.
An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Candidates deemed as meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited to complete and pass an online Administrative Aide examination. Applicants who have previously taken and passed the exam on or after 8/1/2024 will not be required to re-test. Previous passing test scores will be applied.
The salary range listed in this announcement reflects the offer range for this position. Offers made within this range are based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
