Job summary

HDR in Dallas, TX is seeking a Staff Archaeologist to assist in site testing and analysis on development projects involving archaeological resources, historic structures, tribal resources, and excavations. You will provide technical input for design options and deliverables and work with a team as needed.

The role requires travel to North Texas offices and client sites, independent work on small projects, and guidance to clerical staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work under varied weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with field study design, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities.
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in site testing and analysis on development projects involving archaeological resources, historic structures, tribal resources, and excavations.
  • Provide technical input for design options and deliverables.
  • Travel to North Texas offices and client project sites as needed (approximately 66% travel).
  • Work independently on small projects or assist senior scientists on larger projects.
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
