Job summary

HDR is seeking a Staff Archaeologist in Fort Worth, TX to perform site testing and analyses on development projects involving archaeological resources, historic structures, tribal resources and excavations. You will provide technical input to design options, prepare service deliverables, and supervise clerical and technical staff as needed, with travel to North Texas offices and client sites.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's in Archaeology/Anthropology/Architectural History, MS

Qualifications

• Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to work under varied weather conditions.

Staff Archaeologist

In this role, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Perform site testing and conduct analyses work on a variety of development projects involving archaeological resources, historic structures, tribal resources and excavations
• Provide technical expertise to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of service deliverable documents
• Perform routine scientist assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
• Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
• Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
• Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
• This position will require travel as needed to North Texas offices and client project sites.
• Perform other duties as needed

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to record cultural resources in the field without any physical assistance (this could include hiking short distances in scrub and native vegetation).
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email.
• Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments.
• Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to operate a vehicle day or night.
• Approximately 66% travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's
• Previous work experience in cultural resource projects
