Job summary

Walmart seeks a Staff Android Engineer in Sunnyvale to lead architecture, development, and evolution of scalable Android apps and shared platform capabilities impacting millions of users. You’ll shape technical strategy, mentor teams, and partner with back-end teams to deliver secure, high-performance mobile experiences.

You will drive modern architectures, observability, CI/CD, and AI-enabled features while ensuring privacy, security, and quality across the Android ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience OR 6 years of software experience.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex Android apps and platform components.
• Define modern Android architecture standards (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, MVVM/MVI).
• Own large initiatives from concept to production, including CI/CD and observability.
• Mentor engineers and guide cross-team architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with backend teams to design efficient mobile APIs.
• Deliver high-quality, scalable mobile experiences with secure practices.
