Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to lead the technical strategy for Reddit Video Ads, building high-performance, scalable Android experiences. You will guide cross-functional teams, craft roadmaps, and mentor engineers while advancing AI-driven ad formats and engaging, rich-media experiences for a global audience.

You will drive full development life cycles, collaborate with product and design, and ensure UI polish and performance remain top priorities in a fully remote work

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience (Staff level).
• Android Mastery: 3+ years, Kotlin and modern Android patterns; 4+ Android projects from ideation to deployment.
• Experience in Ad Tech, building highly interactive/rich-media mobile experiences.
• Product Mindset: delivering user-facing features with polish and performance.
• System Design: navigate complex, data-intensive environments and build fault-tolerant client-side systems.
• AI: experience leveraging GenAI tools to increase software engineering productivity.
• Experimentation/Analysis: fluent with product metrics, designing experiments; tools like BigQuery, HEX, Firebase.
• Versatility: work across the stack and explore AI/ML integration.
• Entrepreneurial spirit: self-directed, innovative, bias toward action.
• Excellent communication skills: collaborate in a fully remote environment with technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Video Ads Tech Lead: roadmap and technical design for video ads format leadership.
• Technical Strategy: establish Android best practices and design reviews for scalable ad formats.
• Full-Cycle Leadership: from discovery to testing, experimentation, and deployment.
• Raise the Bar: mentor senior engineers and uphold design, testing, and operational excellence.
