Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in Android development and prior team leadership.
• Proven collaboration across teams and problem decomposition.
• Passion for reducing friction and pursuing simplicity.
• Proficient in Kotlin with Jetpack libraries (CameraX, Compose).
• Strong knowledge of asynchronous/reactive programming (Flows/RxJava).
• Familiarity with Firebase (Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub/GitLab).
• Ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to Android engineers, fostering innovation and code quality.
• Lead design and architecture of complex Android apps for scalability and performance.
• Implement and utilize robotics to assist the public safety mission (drones, body-cams).
• Collaborate with internal/external partners to align tech with business goals.
• Integrate backend services via REST, WebRTC with offline-first capabilities.
• Accommodate various hardware configurations from phones to headless devices.
• Stay current with Android platform changes and dependencies.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines and release processes for automation improvements.
• Document app architecture and engineering decisions.
